My favorite lunch spot in Asheville.  Fig is a small bistro (40 seats in total) offering a simple menu in the European tradition. Menus change with the seasons featuring daily specials along with fig classics like their untraditional approach to quiche which resembles a savory custard more than the typical quiche.  They have a very hearty Bolognese, a pan seared salmon over a potato cake and spinach and perhaps the best hamburger I have ever tasted.  Fig is a place where you go to be with your friends, be it a late lunch, an espresso and some dessert, or a glass of chilled rose in their tree filled courtyard.  They offer a well-priced wine list which changes almost weekly as the owner and staff try new wines worthy of sharing with guests.  I order either the shaved celery salad or the house salad before every meal.  The bread pudding for desert is a must.  I love the food, the cozy dining room, the friendly hands-on owners and staff and the regulars that you see there almost every visit say a lot about this comfortable place.   See you there!
