Located on the ground floor of the esteemed Grand Bohemian Hotel, Red Stag is an upscale rustic-chic American steakhouse. With typical high-backed chairs and dark block-wood paneling in the dining room, unless there are more than 2 in your party, I prefer to sit at the bar. The bartenders are all very seasoned and know how to deliver 5-star service. They also seem to know how to read the mood of their patrons. I like nothing better than to settle in at the bar with a couple of Scotches before cracking over the encyclopedia size wine menu featuring a comprehensive list of reds before grazing on a properly, chilled and crispy steak house wedge and climaxing with a perfectly aged rib eye. I no longer smoke, but still have the urge to light a cigarette after such a sensuous experience. Fortunately, I live within walking distance to (and stumbling distance from) The Red Stag.
