I know of at least 5 people who consider Stoney Knob to be their favorite restaurant.   Located outside Weaverville about 15 minutes from Asheville,  Stoney Knob is just plain funky.  The owners are Greek, so there is that and the décor was either by design or by accident (it’s hard to tell) complete with a velvet Elvis and kitschy artifacts scattered about.  Unlike the whimsical atmosphere, the food is quite serious, very fresh ingredients, well prepared and of ample quantity.   The menu is very diverse; from Korean Tacos to a Jamaican wrap, a Szechwan salmon stir fry to a Chicken Marsala, a traditional Greek platter to a short rib burger.  All are prepared to perfection.  I usually start with a “Big’ol Greek Salad” and end with a slice of homemade coconut cream pie.  I love this place!
